About us:
"The details are not the details, they make the design"
-Charles Eames
A. Emilio Sorondo
Principal
A. Emilio Sorondo’s distinguished career has spanned nearly every facet of the design industry, from signature health clubs and world-class resorts, hotels, and restaurants to exclusive private residences, each recognized with exceptional acclaim and distinction.
Emilio’s love for design reaches back to his native country of Cuba, where he loved to play within the wrought iron windows of his grandmother’s Spanish house and stare at the intricate patterns of the “azulejos” (hand painted Spanish tiles) on the floors. It was a wonderful life, full of mysterious ornaments and fountains. This grew into a fascination for detail and order which led to the study of architecture.
Emilio attended the school of architecture and design at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida.
Afterwards, Emilio worked for an international prefabricated structures company in Miami, Florida, in which he was invited to come to work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he was entrusted to direct and supervise the erection of many public and private buildings. This led to other installations across the Middle East, including Egypt and Morocco. This gave way to Emilio’s love of travel and love of foreign cultures.
From there Emilio’s career emerged working for various firms creating signature national and international health clubs, not just the exteriors but the exciting interiors that became the signature for these clubs.
Emilio went on to create many international world class resorts, mostly in the Caribbean. These would include elegant restaurants and health spas as well as golf clubs.
These lead to hospital designs in the northern California area where the challenges of creative and practical design were of upmost importance.
Emilio’s love for residential design did not become lost in the commercial design world. Emilio has designed some of the most interesting concepts and homes anywhere, whether architecture, interiors, landscape or furniture designs, you can always be sure it will be of the finest and the most detailed quality available.
In conclusion, Emilio’s vast and diversified experience in the design industry has allowed him to gain a maturity and vision of design and care that takes him above and beyond the average, whether it is hotels or resorts, restaurants, healthcare facilities, health clubs, restaurants and bars, retail shops or a quality home, the love of design will always be there.

"When we build, let us think that we build forever.
Let it not be for present delight nor for present use alone.
Let it be such work as our descendants will thank us for; and let us think, as we lay stone on stone, that a time is to come when those stones will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that people will say, as they look upon the labor and wrought substance of them; “See! This our parents did for us”
