Lueur des Etoiles (Starlight House)
Dominique, West Indies.

Set along a pristine stretch of sandy shoreline on the island of Dominica, this residence is defined by its intimate relationship to light, landscape, and atmosphere. At night, the home transforms—its carved voids within walls and roof allow light to radiate outward, creating a subtle, luminous presence along the coast. The main living spaces are organized as a sequence of interconnected volumes that unfold toward the ocean. A grand great room frames expansive views of the sea, establishing the primary point of orientation within the home. From here, the plan steps down into the dining area and kitchen, reinforcing a fluid spatial progression that remains visually and physically connected to the horizon. Discreetly integrated behind a concealed panel, a fully equipped chef’s kitchen supports large-scale entertaining while maintaining the simplicity of the main culinary space. Adjacent to the dining area, an outdoor bar extends the social program into the open air, reinforcing the home’s seamless indoor-outdoor lifestyle. Beyond the bar, a long corridor leads to the private primary suite. This sequence culminates in a serene bedroom and spa-like bathroom, ultimately opening to a lap pool that extends the experience of the suite into the landscape. On the opposite side of the main living core, the plan descends past a glass-enclosed wine storage and cooler into a more intimate family zone, including a family room and dedicated home office. Two additional guest or family bedrooms, and a separate guesthouse, offering a balance of privacy and hospitality. Outdoor amenities include two pools—one designed as a lap pool—along with a landscaped game area, a poolside firepit, and a two-car garage. Throughout, the architecture is shaped by light, transparency, and continuity with the sea, creating a home that shifts effortlessly between retreat, entertainment, and coastal living.
